Year Dua

Hey, how's it going (did you read that in Pewd's voice)? I'm just updating this space because I felt that I left it vacant for too long (for like, a month plus?) So, my 3 months holiday has finally come to an end with my completing almost NOTHING on my itinerary for holiday. I mean, I did my passport and work, and work for the whole holiday, THE ENTIRE HOLIDAY.

Now that I'm finally in Year 2 for NAFA's Screen Media, the workload, of course, will be different from year 1. Firstly, we get to touch the video camcorder (I swear the case for the camera is damn heavy, my arm almost broke carrying them from school to home). Secondly, we got to play with Adobe's Premium Pro which I am damn excited about because I want to be a Film Editor if nothing goes wrong. I just love editing raw footages. That sense of satisfaction when you're done piecing the footages together into one film is just indescribable.

Pardon my retarded face.

Anyway, my class is still and will be the same throughout my remaining course of studies in NAFA. Though the whole class is stuck with the two most hated person in the class (seriously, someone kick them out please), however, our bond with each other has gotten stronger than before, and we have started to bond with other classmates which we previously do not have much chances to talk to. Plus, I'm really thankful to another class for requesting to our course head to not mix us up as the other class is seriously annoying af. They could laugh at the lamest thing that you'll never thought of. Just yesterday, the lecturer was trying to show us the movie "Blue Valentine" which was inspired by Italian Neorealism. However, he went to Youtube and search for the movie, click on one of the thumbnail and thought that the movie will be played, but instead it just showed a picture directing him to another site to watch the movie, and then the other class laughed. Me and my classmates just sat there and look at each other blankly, wondering what the fuck is so funny about that, and came to the conclusion that their laughing meter (笑点) is way too low. Oh my God.

Okay bye I have class at 9am and it's 2.32am right now and I have a report not done at all yet AND IT'S DUE LATER.

HER VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL?

Be Right Back

BE RIGHT BACK HUMANS BECAUSE CURRENTLY I'M AT MY LAST LAP OF SCHOOL AND ALL MY ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE NEXT WEEK AND FOR THOSE WHO KNOWS ME I'M A HARDCORE PROCRASTINATOR SO I HAVE A LOT OF HOMEWORK NOT DONE.

MEANWHILE, YOU COULD ENJOY THIS WHILE I SUFFER DOING MY ASSIGNMENTS.

SEE YA HUMANS.

A pretty themeless vlog (without talking) done by me.

Random video montage while I was walking to MRT station from school. You should check out the song too.

School Sucks: Part 1

Pardon for the lack of updates, I was barely catching any breath from all the piling schools works and overwhelming of emotions.

As I'm entering the final phase of my Year 1 education in NAFA, I concluded quite a few stuff:

1. Don't bother to look good, because you're going to end up looking shag as hell from those assignments.
2. But please still bother to dress presentably, by that, I do not mean Banana button down.
3. Guys don't matter anymore, heck, they don't even bother me a bit.
4. "Famous" people could be your classmate too, by famous I mean Social Media Influencer. That's when you realised we are all just human.
5. Bitches are everywhere.
6. Pretending to be interested in the module is a chore.
7. Bootlicking lecturers is a chore.
8. Waking up early is a chore.
9. I wish I'm dead.

As you could see, I'm not leading a very pleasant life in NAFA. People who think that Art students lead an easy life should probably try to be in our shoes by forcing themselves to draw at least 10 pieces every single fucking day, or drag your ass all around Singapore just for that one or two perfect shots, or cracking your brain just to find that tinny bits of inspiration which will eventually get rejected by lecturers. You may think that we Art students are leading a very cool, very edgy life, trust me, it takes skills and lecturer's notes to put together an all-black outfit for your funeral.

Behind our red/plum lip/ridiculously coloured hair lies a crazy idea that no one have the balls to do.

LOL, it probably doesn't make sense up there but do Art makes sense?

Do people who dipped their whole body in honey makes sense to you? (clickable link)

No, so you don't have to know what I was trying to type up there, just know that Art students aren't having an easy life too.

What's worse than having this AWESOMESAUSE idea in your head but when you do it out in real life, it's zero percent near to what you had in your brain. Let me tell you, that moment is the moment where I wish I could pull my tongue and cut it off and slowly bleed to death, or have people to shoot arrows front, back, left, right, diagonally top and bottom left, diagonally top and bottom right into my head. Letting yourself down could be the BIGGEST disappoint you could ever have, besides letting your parents down.

Emotionally wise, I'll save that for next post. Right now, I feel like a zombie who has not slept for centuries.

My Childhood Memory

I do not have a good childhood. The only memorable time I could remember it was when I sat behind the closed door, a door closed from all connections of human, scratching my forearm till little red bumps starts to appear on it.

That moment was the moment I felt alive.

Ever since young, even till now, I had little self-esteem. Well, there are days where I feel fabulous like Beyoncé too, however, those were the rare days. Well, I am a plain Jane, an average Joe, who excels at nothing but being average. If you were to ever met me on the street, you wouldn’t even bother to take a first look at me.

One thing for sure, I know that was not average was my out of proportion buttock. Before hitting puberty, I have a rather normal body, where everything was in proportion. Once it hits me, my buttock decided that it’s time for them to shine. BOOM, they’re big now.

There was this one time I went to Malaysia to visit my maternal side of the family. My Grandparent owns a business. They sold Kuei along the road side and had a lot of regular customers. Some of them even bought Kuei from them for years! There will be a few customers who would buy Kuei in bulk for their own business. Sometimes if I’m feeling helpful, I would wake up in the middle of the night and help them out.

And then there is this particular customer.

He is a half a century old Chinese uncle who drove a van that a pedophile would drive. The very first moment I saw him, I disliked him immediately. He was so friendly to my Aunt who was helping out. Then, he saw me. My Aunt quickly introduces me to him as the Singaporean kid who was having holiday. He seemed pretty impressed to know that I’m a Singaporean, I mean, which Singaporean kid is willing to help out with business in the middle of the night right.

For the next few days, I went down to help my Grandparent and without fail, he would be there to purchase Kuei in bulk. Every time I see him, fear and feeling of disgust grew. He was like that overly-friendly obese uncle who would try his best to have himself around you, except that he was not obese.

I was minding my own business, then…

I felt a firm grip on my buttock. A grip that was obviously not mine, a grip that sent me to a state of shock.

I stare unbelievingly at nothing, my jaw dropped, but no sound was heard. My eyes widen to disbelieve. Slowly, I turned to my right, only to saw a face that I would kill to not see it for even one. He was looking back at me with a blank smile, a smile that would send anyone’s spines to chill.
I walked to my aunt and told her what happened, hoping to find justice in the matter, only to have my hope all crashed.

"Come, touch one time for $50."

For the whole time later, I was helping out like nothing happen, needless to say, it was all an act. I was trembling terribly inside.
Once I reached home, I went to the room immediately. Door shut tight, locked, I sat against the door in the cradle position. His smile was plastered in my mind. Slowly, I held my hand to me, baring the forearm. With another hand, I started to create long, thin, red scratch marks. Every scratch marked was like erasing the scenes of the horror. I sat there, scratch, and scratch and scratch.
What happened again?

It's an assignment by this module called Story Telling. I didn't sign up for this shit.

Break

Finally, had some time to update this space before I drive full force into work and RCYC.

So,

IT'S FINALLY HOLIDAYYYYYYY.

School was tough, Art was definitely not as easy as it seems to be.
I remember someone told me,

"Art is not like studying, you can copy for studies, but to copy Art, you need skills."

Yeap. That sums up my semester 1.

Part 1: My Art journey

This was what I started out with.
Can you see the resembles? I hope you can.
I drew that probably a day or two before my entrance test.
I freaked out upon knowing that my entrance test was just 2 days after I registered for it.
I had no time to prepare anything at all.
So my medium used for my test was, haha, colour pencils.
I saw other candidates were using acrylic paints and what not.
I felt so intimidated.
However thank God, I got in, and that's how my journey in NAFA starts.

Not very impressed artworks up there, but I hope you see my improvement.
Till date, I still feel intimidated drawing.
After all, drawing is not my forte, and I'm not going to major in Fine Arts (I'm studying Screen Media, just if you're wondering what I'm gonna major in).

Not one of those breath-taking Artworks you see in galleries but hey, what's that? Improvement.

Part 2: My Photography Journey

CNY, Chinatown
July, CBD area. Outside Marina Bay Sands Shopping Centre to be exact.

This was what I started out with.
My interest in Photography was not big to started with, but it was there.
Whenever I see something that I think it's hmm, Insta-worthy (LOL), out comes my iPhone 4.
Yes, this loser still uses iP4 when plus 2 is already out.
My friend, Jing, said that I'm "photogenic".

*Note: not that I look more decent in photographs, but rather I have an eye for beauty or just rather passable skills.

Being in an Art School has certainly "trained" me to have an eye for beauty.
I mean, having friends who would ask for your help to help them take OOTDs, it's no choice that you must be able to think quickly how you would want to shoot it, where's the best lighting and the most flattering angle and such.

And also, ignore passerby's unwelcoming stares and judgement.

The girls who stayed with me for my first 4 month in NAFA.

Artichoke café located just beside NAFA.

Singapore Art Museum for the field trip.

Marina Barrage. Bet you didn't know Singapore's sea can be in such a beautiful shades of blue.

Just moment before it rained outside my house.

Plaza Singapura. The complex infrastructure is definitely Insta-worthy.

Art Science Museum.

Gardens By The Bay.

Just in case if you are wondering if I edited the picture, I did.
Editing pictures is like the makeup in Photography.
The reason is just as same to why women put makeup.
To beautify it, make it presentable.
But mind you, I'm still a beginner in Photography haha.

Part 3: Journey of my hair

I dare not say that I'm an Adventure lover,
I certainly do not think that I could grow a pair of balls and do bungee jumping and screaming YOLO as my head reaches towards the ground, without the fear that it might kiss the floor hard and leave evidence of "love".
No, I am not an Adventure lover.
But one thing I dare to do is to dye my hair to some outrageous colours.
Of course, not the whole head, I'm not an Adventure lover remember?
Plus I wouldn't want my mother to tick me off for throwing the family's face.

My hair on 1st and 3rd pics are actually a colouring gone wrong thing.
I wanted purple for 1st, and blue for 3rd.
But meh oh well, pink and green it shall be then.
I will be dying my hair black for RCYC (urgh), however I might be dying it to some other colour next year.
Yeah to changes.

---

Well, I guess that's all for my update.
Pretty sure you guys don't need any update of MY life because you're busy living yours ahahah.
As for right now, I'm just waiting to start my work back in McCafé.
I swear I need to leave that bloody place soon.
Meanwhile, I need my well-deserving few days break.

Save mehhhh

Entering 3rd week of school and I could barely breathe.
The amount of assignments was though bearable, but the amount of brain used is killing meh.
Never have I done so many Art in my life.
Having to meet the expectation of different kind of lecturer is exhausting.
I guess the only module I like is Drawing Fundamental,
where I could freely express my thoughts, or rather my laziness :P

Because there's no so called examination in NAFA, our grade is determined by our weekly assignment.
I have 5 modules in total, all has work to do, plus it's not even 1 piece of art work or whatsoever.
Can you hear me sighing.
But my group of friends and lecturers are the one that made me look forward to school.
Crazy people hahaha.

Outfit is also one of the reason why I dreaded going to school.
But so far, I don't wear so lupsup-ly to school hahaha.

Lunch at Maki-san

No satanic meaning behind, I swear

I went to Cat Socrates yesterday with my girls. It a vintage shop selling cat related stuffs and other decorative items.
I was awed, cat shop, CAT, please feel my excitement.
Was browsing through and saw quite a few stuff I would like to have but I didn't have any money at that time TT
As we were walking around, the shop's cat suddenly walked out lazily and lay down on the table.
And it just slept.
My girls were just stroking and scratching its fur, and it didn't not move an inch or bat an eyelid.
Be right back, dying due to overdose of cuteness.

Visiting the Cat Cafe at Victoria Street and then the Art Museum with my girls tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I shall anticipate the wait and indulge myself into sorrow because I have been unknowingly talking to a person with girlfriend.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Okay, I promised I will put up a post after my orientation so here it is.

So school has started and so far, I'm loving my group of new friends and lecturers, they are like the coolest people. I mean, can't help it right, we are all artist. HAHA.
Okay, crap aside.

My orientation was a FAIL man.
I mean, the school is awesome, but just, the OGL. They were so awkward.
It was also partly our (freshmen) fault too because we were just too awkward to respond to their rahrahs.
The one day orientation, yes, other polys are like 3 days to a week but ours is just one day.
But it's okay, short and sweet.
Basically we were just switching from Campus 1 to Campus 3.
Touring the rooms and the library.
The library was the most boring thing out of all.
Don't get me wrong, I love library, I love books, but it's just the librarian, she's too bored.
I almost fall asleep while touring around the library.

So on this date that I uploaded this post, it's my second day of school.
So far I'm loving it.
Woah I actually like school haha.
Oh, have I mentioned this.
Not some glorious matter but I actually bumped into Naomi Neo during first day of school.

Have been spending a lot of money on art materials.
Sigh needa work liao.
