I turned to the legendary 18 years old just a week ago, but I feel like an old soul already.
Having to live through the 18 years of life is kinda a breeze yet a super tough task.
I have been through quite a fair bit of event/drama for an 18 yo, so come to me for advice ;)

1. SELF-CONTROL
Congrats, now that you're (I'm) 18, you're at the legal age to drink adult's favourite liquid of all time: alcohol. Some of you rebel young adult might have already touch this addictive liquid, of even mastered the art of drinking. Remember the days when you have to sneak and hide your breath so that your parents won't know you drank? Say BYE to that! However, it takes one to have the self-control to not drink everyday and everywhere just because you're at a legal age. You wouldn't want to go to school with a hangover. Nasty.
---
2. LEARN TO DRINK
However, if you're one of those good kid that every parent want, meaning you have NEVER touched alcohol before, time to do that! Not that drinking is always good, but it's always good to try. Drinking is a social game, you drink to entertain, you drink to impress. Drink to know your preference and your limit, so that you won't ended up being that drunk friend, vomiting and blabbering bullshit or spilling secrets to your friend. They don't need to know.

3. IT'S OKAY TO FEEL AND BE YOUNG
I mean, hello, you're only 18, you're barely an adult, you still have (hopefully) 60 years ahead of you, so why rush into the old zone? Play your favourite Gameboy game, go to playground, sit on a swing, sing nursery rhythms and colour your colouring book for all you want because no matter how old we are, we have that kid inside of us. Embrace that because the older you won't get to do that as much as you can right now.
---
4. BUT BE RESPONSIBLE
Responsibility is a familiar word to all of us. We have been told countless time to be responsible to our actions or words but were let go because we're "young and immature". Now that you're 18, no more. People expect you to have the initiative to be responsible. Be responsible for your own being, your own words, your own future, because you are 18 now.

5. START TO SUPPORT YOURSELF FINANCIALLY
I started supporting myself financially when I'm 16++-year-old, partly because I drop out of school haha. Every cent and every dollar you earned are hard as hell. The reason why I said start to support yourself financially is because there's no need to rush into it. You can still take allowance from your parents (lucky you, I can't), but slowly cut down on the amount since you have a pay coming in monthly. Having on more external income is always better because that means more $$ to spent.
---
6. YOU'LL START TO SAVE UP
Because you have a job, you know how hard it is to earn that money. When you have no job, money was spent as though you are drinking water. You know you must drink water, so you turned on your tap, not knowing how many ml of water you have waste, but you don't bother either, because when you switch on the tap, water is still going to come running. You must spend, but you don't keep track, but you don't bother either, because you can always ask for more money from your parent. No more that, you know how hard you worked to have that money, you will start to spend them thrifty. You will start to keep track of your bank balance, wondering where did that dollar go. Soon enough, you will find yourself making saving plans for your education of that vacation that you always wanted to go.

7. IT'S OKAY TO BE SINGLE
Recently, I have noticed that more and more of my friend are starting to be in a relationship. Needless to say, I will feel all weird out, like, why am I still single, but I have got over it. I'm only 18, I still have a long way ahead of me, I still have the years to fall in and out of love, so do not because of pressure that you get together with someone, not worth it.

8. TAKE YOUR EDUCATION SERIOUSLY
Being 18 means you only have a few more years to study before you enter the working world. You may have smoke your way through for your early education, but right now you should take it seriously. For those in college, you will soon be selecting a course that will be the field you're working in. For those in Poly, though you have chosen your field, but you will need that GPA to help you get a good job. So really, take your education seriously now.
---
9. SAY YES TO ERROR
Everyone makes mistake, everyone makes wrong choices. While you have made a mistake, you may have wasted precious time, but in the end you have learnt a lesson, so not make the same mistake again. You have years ahead to make mistakes, so don't dwell on it, just don't make the same mistake.
---
10. FIND YOUR TRUE FRIENDS ALREADY
True friends are the assholes that stick with you throughout thick and thin. While teenagers nowadays may pursue the popularity, but nothing beats having a few true friend than tons of fake "friends". Do I need to say more for this?

And some birthday songs for you
